Iranian reciter wins second prize at Malaysian Quran competition

TEHRAN – Iranian reciter Amin Puya has won the second prize of the men’s category at the 54th International Quran Recital Competition in Malaysia. 
 
The first prize in this category was presented to Malaysian reciter Muhammad Anuar Ghazali during the closing of the competition at the Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, the Malaysian national news agency Bernama announced on Saturday.
 
Raden Harmoko Baharudin from Indonesia received the third prize, the report added.
 
The first winner received a cash prize of $13,000 and the plaque of the competition, the second winner got $10,000 and the third $7000. Both second and third winners also received the plaques.
 
In the women’s category, Hasnae Khoulali from Morocco won the first prize, Rahmawati Bakri Hunawa from Indonesia got the second prize and the third prize went to Che Aminah Che Awang from Malaysia.
 
Ninety nine reciters from 44 countries took part in this year’s competition, which ran from July 6 to 14.
